牯嶺街少年殺人事件 A Brighter Summer Day
Taiwan, 1960. 14-years old boy S’ir comes from a modestly well-off family of four. In spite of his excellent academic track record, he fails in his final exams and could only continue his studies at the night school populated with delinquents. He falls in love with Ming, known as the girlfriend of a gang member who is in exile for murder. Meanwhile, S’ir’s father, a civil servant, is being framed and detained by the secret police because of his alleged associations with Communists in mainland China. Though released, he becomes a changed man. All these sudden turns of events lead S’ir’s to his inevitable involvement with the gang members.

廣東梅州客家人，生於上海，成長於台北，後赴美國留學工作，1981 年回到台灣。1982 年，與柯一正、張毅、陶德辰合拍《光陰的故事》，被公認為「台灣新電影」重要先驅之一。往後名作不斷，細膩描繪台北城市變遷以及台北中產階級的感情生活。
Born in Shanghai and raised in Taipei, YANG went to university in the U.S. and returned to Taiwan in 1981.
His first breakthrough came when he was invited to direct a segment of In Our Time (1984), an omnibus film that started the New Taiwanese Cinema Movement.YANG’s films accurately depict and analyze the many forms of complicated relationships of the middle-class that set against the backdrop of the changing, urban society of Taiwan, where uncertainties and anxiety comes side by side with the longing for love.
