霧散了,景物終於清晰,但是,為什麼都含著眼淚?許毅生在1950 年代因參與政治讀書會而遭判無期徒刑,在審問過程中,他不堪酷刑而出賣了好友陳政一,使陳政一被槍決。深陷囹圄的許毅生與妻子離婚,妻子自殺,女兒也失去依靠。十六年後,許毅生出獄,卻對於妻女、也對好友的冤死充滿愧疚,自囚於養老院。一次心臟病發,避世十多年的許毅生決定尋訪陳政一當年的墳墓。他獨自踏上旅途,重逢故人,也遇見了當年逮人的警察,拼湊出他那一代人的傷痛與無奈。本片與《超級市民》、《超級公民》同為萬仁導演之作品,合稱「超級三部曲」。

During the White Terror period in the 1950s, KO is sentenced to imprisonment in a confined nursing home as a political prisoner for his membership of a political study group. He has no choice but to spill out the name of his best friend Chen when he is threatened under interrogation, which leads to Chen’s execution. His wife divorces him and commits suicide, leaving their only daughter parentless. 16 years has passed, the guilt-ridden old man is finally discharged. With the attempt to make sense of the past and to make peace with himself, he embarks on a journey that takes him to the people he once know, discovering along the way the truth of what exactly happened to his best friend Chen.

WAN Jen

1950年生,東吳大學外文系、美國哥倫比亞大學電影系碩士。歸國適逢台灣新電影的興起,擔任《兒子的大玩偶》之〈蘋果的滋味〉導演。「超級三部曲」以影像批判政治、歷史,為台灣代表性導演之一。近年投身電視劇的創作,包含2003年《風中緋櫻:霧社事件》。

After graduating from Columbia University with a master degree in film, Wan returned to Taiwan and directed the segment The Taste of Apples in The Sandwich Man (1983). As one of the representative figures of the New Taiwanese Cinema Movement, his “Taiwan Trilogy” was his way of using film as a medium to criticize the history and society of modern Taiwan. In recent years, he turned his interest in TV productions that include Dana Sakura: Wushe Incident (2003) and The War of Betrayal 1895 (2007).
