An underdog story about the poorest people in one of the world's wealthiest countries, The Workers Cup follows a group of six migrant construction labors in Qatar, who, by day, build stadiums for the 2022 World Cup, and by night, compete in a “workers welfare” soccer tournament in the same stadium that will host the 2022 World Cup. Even if the titular contest is nothing more than a marketing ploy, it still gives the participating migrant workers a sense of escape from the bleakest working conditions they have to endure during the never-ending workdays.
